I am ecstatic to share that I am in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy with a baby boy, all thanks
I KNOW THIS IS A SUPER LONG REVIEW, BUT IT IS WORTH THE READ
I have to say that I was relieved to see some people sharing similar stories such as mine. Prior to me visiting Dr. El-Roeiy, I read nothing but wonderful reviews. I wasn’t sure if my feeling were geared to my infertility issues, or if I had a truly shady doctor looking to profit from IVF at any cost.
As many of you’ve outlined, I too have had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. El-Roeiy. I went in for my laparoscopy, and has no idea that Dr. El-Roeiy intended to REMOVE BOTH my tubes. After my re-admin test were sent to the office, I was told to come in for a final exam and to sign consent forms. It was at the time of signing, that I got a chance to review the operative plan, and I was MORTIFIED. I explained to Dr. El-Roeiy that I was more interested in an investigate surgery. I wanted to know what was going on in my tubes and then think about what I wanted to do with that information. Up until this point, I had the very best experience with the doctor. However, after discovering his intentions and voicing my concerns, he turned into a very nasty patronizing person.
He then told me that “SURGERY IS NOT FOR INVESTIGATION”, and even went on to say “ YOUR TUBES ARE A MESS AND I DO NOT DO SURGERY FOR FUN, IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE YOUR TUBES REMOVED, THEN WE CAN CANCEL THE SURGERY, I WILL NOT EVEN WASTE MY TIME”. In my mind, I knew I didn’t want to have both of my tubes removed. I had already scheduled the surgery, arranged for time off at work and it was less than a week away. With tears in my eyes I turned to the doctor and said “well, since you mentioned that my Right side was worst then my left based on the HSG you performed, could you maybe only take the really bad one, I’m not ready part with both of my tubes at the moment.” He agreed but not before mentioning that “…You will NEVER GET PREGNANT without IVF and you’re chances of a successful IVF with your tubes filled with fluid is slim”. Prior to this conversation, I had never expressed any interest in IVF. I explained to him that due to the finical aspect of an IVF procedure, IVF was definitely NOT AN OPTION for me and getting pregnant with no tubes is virtually impossible, whereas at least with blockage I have a percentage of a chance. He tried to go on about his new low cost option, however I stood firm on my ground, and we continued with the surgery a week later per my specification to only remove one tube.
The day of surgery he did not greet me with the big friendly smile. It was almost as if he felt like performing this surgery was a waste of his time. He was really nonchalant and cold.
HERE IS THE KICKER…
As I am getting ready to be released from the hospital after my surgery, I noticed that the doctor has written a prescription for 800mg of Motrin. I knew that I needed a stronger script, so I asked the nurse to call him, and he REFUSED! None of the nurses could understand why he was denying me the medication, but hinted that this was not his first time doing this. I then waited in recovery for an additional 4 hours for him to come into my recovery room and give me a differ script. At that time, the pain meds has worn off, and I was in excruciating pain. He wrote the script and walked out of the room. That was that.
Months later, I remained under the impression that I would never get pregnant w/o IVF. So, I started to consider it, and looked further into my options. I happen to stumble upon a medical study offing IVF. I was accepted in the study, but before I could get started with any treatment or medications, it was revealed that I was no longer eligible. This was due to a POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST! I was shocked because my cycle had ended only a few days ago, but later found out that I had a chemical miscarriage. They study site told me to call on the 1 day of my next period to schedule my visit and we would more forward after that.
One month later, and my period is late again. I took a preg test, and it was positive. Unfortunately, my period did come on 10 later, so before I went back to the study site, I decided to get a 2nd opinion on my whole blocked tube diagnosis from Dr. El-Roeiy. My first stop was u-pen, however they totally relayed on post op report from Dr. El- Roeiy’s office, and their only suggestion was to do IVF. Nest stop, bryn mawr. It was here that I got some really DISTURBING NEWS ON DR. EL-ROEIY!!!
The doc at Bryn Mawr informed me that they hear all the time how Dr. El-Roeiy is prone to push patient to have IVF or is quick to yank out their tubes. I am really upset that I did not stand my ground and not let Dr. El-Roeiy take either of my tubes. I am hopeful that I will get pregnant again, but just wanted to warn EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN!!!!
Excellent service, remarkable and warm staff, incredible treatment and personel care, highest pregnancy rate.
