What is your favorite quote or saying?
Perfection can never be achieved, but if you don't aim for it, you'll never come close
What makes your specialties the right fields of medicine for you?
My passion for this profession is far less intellctual than it is emotional. In reconstructive surgery, the goal is not only to restore function, but also to repositition the tissue in such a way as to try and leave no sign you were there. In cosmetic surgery the aesthetic goal is to better nature; to restore what time has taken away. To achieve these goals requires an understanding of anatomy and physiology, but equally important is the imagination to solve the puzzle of reconstructive surgery, and the artistry to recognize what constitutes beauty for each individual to satisfy their goals. It is this marriage of science, art and surgical proficiency that resonates with my psyche. I do not believe there is a field in medicine that could possibly satisfy me as well.

a Navy SEAL, CIA operative or professional mixed martial arts fighter.
Can you tell us in your own words what you consider a perfect outcome of a surgical procedure?
My passion for this profession is far less intellectual than it is emotional. I love the challenge of caring for reconstructive patients whose disease has left them with deformities that must be healed. It's like a puzzle to be solved. For cosmetic patients, I am drawn to their desire to look more youthful, to appear as vibrant on the outside as they feel on the inside. Their goals become my goals, their joy becomes my joy. I can't describe the wondrous feeling when I sense their sincere gratitude, receive cards and letters, and hugs and kisses. The truth is I am the one who is most grateful; that these patients have placed their trust in me is the ultimate compliment and responsibility. I love my work!
In a perfect world, when would you like to retire, where would you go and what would you do?
When I'm old enough to have achieved my professional aspirations, yet still young enough to pursue new ones. After retirement what will I do? Whatever my wife wants me to...
